There are many other hiking trails in the area, several of which are in nature reserves. Brattforsheden with the Lungälv ravines, Geijerdalsmossen, Kittelfältet and Brandfältet is about 20 kilometers away. These are all geologically interesting and incredibly beautiful areas that include ancient ice pits, ridges and canyons.
The Högbergsfältet nature reserve is 45 kilometers away. This is definitely worth a visit! Impressive hiking trails in the forest and walking along the amazing Yngen Lake. Visit the Tilas Stoll horizontal mine shaft and tunnel, and see the amazing klockstapeln.
A little further away you will also find interesting mountain bike trails. For example, in the Högbergsfältet area near Persberg, there are several blue (easy) and red (difficult) routes to follow. Such as the Gruvturen of more than 7 kilometers.
The well-known Klarälvsbanan is also fun to cycle. In Uddeholm the asphalted cycle path Klarälvsbanan ends and the trail Klarälvsleden begins. You can choose whether you want to continue along the Klarälven River or continue north via the town of Hagfors.
This bike path is called Klarälvsbanan. It is no less than 90 kilometers long and runs along an old dike. The trail starts at Kroppkärrssjön in Karlstad and leeds via Edsgatan through beautiful old cultural landscapes to Forshaga and Deje, on to Munkfors, Råda and finally to Uddeholm. There are several rest areas with information boards along the Klarälvsbanan.
Would you like to get out on the water and not take a long trip right away? Then walk to Lake Acksjön, on which Sjö och träd overlooks, and sail on the water with a canoe. Experience the feeling of freedom, tranquility and space.
You don't have a SUP yourself? No problem! In Acksjön you can rent a SUP. You can also rent canoes here and have them take you to another lake.
At Kallhytan you will find seven cross-country tracks. Even if there is no (good) snow, you can go here on the 4 kilometer long artificial snow course. In addition, there are six natural snow trails ranging from 2 to 20 kilometers in length. Kallhytan is only half an hour's drive from Acksjön.
The most popular ski area in Värmland can be found at Branäs. This is a 1 hour and 50 minutes drive from Acksjön. In Branäs every ski lover can indulge his or her heart! You can rent skis here, choose from various ski tracks and go up the mountain with ski lifts and then descend while enjoying the beautiful winter landscape.
No snow and still want to go skiing? It is possible in the indoor ski hall in Torsby! Here you are even able to ski in the summer. The indoor ski hall is an 1.5 hour drive from Acksjön.
If you go skating or want to go on natural ice in any other way, always go out with at least two people. The ice may seem passable, but it can be treacherous due to snow or moderate frost. If something happens on the way, one of the two can call in help.
A longer track is 90 kilometers (1 hour and 15 minutes) drive from Acksjön. In Gullspång you can choose from two routes:
A lake with a child-friendly sandy beach can be found at Mangenbaden. This is 15 kilometers from Acksjon. At Mangenbaden you can also rent a SUP, eat ice cream and play mini golf.
Would you rather go to a large water park? You can! Sunne Sommarland is open during the summer months. Here you will find everything you expect from a water park: from slides in all shapes and sizes to a rapid that you can go through on a floating belt. There are several swimming pools and children's pools. Sunne Sommarland is an hour's drive from Acksjön.
Do you want to do something else after climbing? A beautiful hiking trail runs around the climbing park. You can also play mini golf, Frisbee golf, play football, go to the beach and make beautiful bike rides on Skutberget.
If you are planning to go to Värmslands Älgpark, it is advisable to book in time for one of the guided tours. There are more people who would like to see a moose up close! The moose park is an hour's drive from Acksjön.
Take a look at the Alpackagård website, and discover the possibilities! Don't forget to book in advance for an activity. The Alpackagård is a 40-minute drive from Acksjön.
Another waterfall worth seeing is located at Munkfors and is called Munkforsen. This is the highest natural waterfall of the river Klarälven. In the summer the waterfall is almost dry, but the rocks around the waterfall and in the (dry) river are also impressive to see. During the summer months, the locks at the Munkforsen are opened on a few Saturdays. So has everyone the chance to view the impressive waterfall, even in the dry summer months.
Would you like to explore Stockholm or Oslo? Then it is nice and convenient to stay overnight because of the distance. The Swedish capital of Stockholm is a 3-hour and 45-minute drive from Acksjön. And the Norwegian capital of Oslo is 3 hours and 30 minutes away.

In Filipstad, about a half hour's drive from Acksjön, visit the one and only Wasa Museum! You will also find the Nils Ferlin Museum here, after the famous Swedish poet.
Just past Filipstad is the mining museum Långban gruv- & kulturby located. Here you can visit various buildings where you can learn all about mining and minerals. You can also look for special stones on a mountain yourself.
The railway museum in Hagfors is a nice outing because you can not only watch trains, but also get on the track yourself! From the railway museum you can take a rail bike ride on the rails to Stjärnsfors Kvarn and back (12 kilometers in total).
